Executive Board Committee Meeting Minutes

October 10, 2007

In attendance:  Kimberly Wells, Denton Public, Stacey Irish-Keffer, Denton Public, Annita Owens, Texas Woman's Univeristy, Fred Kamman, Denton Public, Remmington, UNT, Donna Kearley, Denton ISD

Absent:  Starr Hoffman, UNT, Gayla Byerly, UNT, Annie Downey, UNT, Sue Park, UNT

Kimberly Wells reported that she had been in contact with Orson Scott Cards publisher TOR Books about the possibility of Card speaking in Denton in October 2008.  She reported that TOR books was interested and had asked for more information from Denton Reads about size of the auidience and types of activities involved in the speaking engagement.  They are in negiotiations.

Kimberly asked that all sub committee chairs post a brief summary of the purpose of their committee and the types of volunteers they are anticipating needing.  Starr Hoffman has already posted hers for the publicity committe if you need a model.  Starr's list is extensive and very detailed which may not be true of all committees.   It was also suggested that the committee chair then contact each potential volunteer telling them the timeline of when they might be called on to volunteer.

Kimberly also suggested that each entity (Denton ISD, Denton Public, TWU, UNT) post the committee descriptions to their listservs or email distribution groups with a notice that if you are interested in volunteering, please check with your supervisor and then contact the appropriate committee.
